Hi on AI · McQueen Analytics companion

People need to reach someone who can act

A companion to Carl’s WPHM conversation about human choice and responsibility.

When AI helps an organization make a decision, the person affected needs a way to raise a concern. In his WPHM interview with Paul Miller, Carl uses hiring to explain the problem. An applicant should be able to correct bad information and reach someone who can reconsider the result.

The conversation also covers changes in work and the expectations of regular users. Carl returns to human involvement and the responsibility of the people using the technology.

For a business, a review process should identify who receives a concern and what they can change. Staff handling the review need access to the relevant information and enough authority to correct the outcome. Explain that process to the people who may need it.
